| Well I am not sure. I always said I would never do a cave course, one of my best mates is a Cave IT and more and more recently I have been thinking about it. I just like every now and then to be a student on a course somewhere, I find it cathartic. So next year I think I may do a cave course, one of my other mates thinks I am a loon, but then he is a Mountain Guide, and I think he's a biscuit, so there. Did I answer your question? Probably not. Cheers Dave Cooper |

| So erm... I dive in rock formations that take millenia to move and you dive in wrecked metal lumps that collapse in mere decades? <grins> Case... rested

| I'll tell you who are bonkers. Kamakazi Pilots, that's who. |

| Bonkers? No cave divers are not bonkers, well maybe a little. I recently completed a cave diving course in Florida and learned quite a lot. I will use some of what I learned on my normal diving. |

| I think you will find the loony cave divers are the ones that go in and never come back out. The rest are a very reasoned, competant, thinking group. Let's face it, you have to be very well planned to go miles into a cave system and carry enough air to get back out. Not seen the attraction myself but could be persuaded to dive a few centotes. Neil

| No more than any other group. The ones who take the dangers seriously and take appropriate precautions for their chosen adventure sport should not be called bonkers - despite the impression sometimes given when they tell their tales are not bonkers and get the rewards of doing something others don't. The ones who thinks it takes nothing to cut yourself off from everything that sustains life probably are bonkers but there tends to be a Darwinian effect. In general the group of people called cave divers today are probably less bonkers (certainly more serious about it all) than those of 30 years ago - can you get hold of a bit of C8 mate? Anybody remember Gus (me) and Leo from Austwick in '75? Please email if you do may not be on the forum much, sorry to have lost contact. Last edited by Angus2 : 20-12-04 at 11:05 AM.
