You're probably right, I've never dived it. It was a total guess only because he'd told me that was one of the places he'd dived.

I was planning on trying to pass the sump in September, interesting to here what it's like on the other side.

Second guess, Source de l'Ain -- based scientifically on it being near the Ain photos on Andrew's blog.

Cheers,

Stuart

Gouron
Yes you are right it is the Gouron I spoke to Gary last night and the line we left in after the June trip was useful to them (only down the slope) belayed to a tree (nice 4mm line :-) ) The entrance is at 8M in the river bed and very poor vis once into the cave the sump drops quickly to 56M then slowly back to air. It is 420M long the vis was crystal for the dive. We only went to look as a fall back after we were told we could not dive the Dessoubre and we should leave. Then we went to option two the Pont Diable this was discounted as the sump edge had been used by a number of people as a latrine !!!!!

... until I make it over to France I will just have to watch this fun little game from the sidelines ;-(

In hindsight I should have gone to France or joined Martyn in Ireland instead of going to Spain.

... maybe next year ;-)

I would hazard a guess at Combe du Creux but have a nagging feeling that it goes under a different name locally.

Deepest cave in the Doubs, -85m'ish. I fancy diving it, sounds a nice RB cave.

I'm considering going end of Sept/early Oct if you fancy it.

Cheers,

Stuart

Yes , it took a lot of walking up and down even with a map and GPS to find it.

Not a bad dive sump one is through boulders to start with but then it all gets nice and big. The water is nice and cold 6C to 8C in June the air temp can be up to 36C and all at 1200M

Not sure what happens in the shaft as it is shown as 80M ? on the survey.

One other site in the area with 80M + .

Could be interested

We aim for next year and staying at the same house , it even has mountain bikes to play with and we spent time out in the woods looking at sites.

Colin (left) and me.

I even took my road bike to keep up the training.

The house we stay in is in the background.

Andrew.
