Bloody marvellous Duncan Thanks

I need to mark my line (was going to do every 10m) and I had visions of me traipsing up and down the living room getting in a right mess It's a bit wet outside though

This will be my first time at attaching line to a reel and I don't fully understand pic 1 so any tips will be rewarded with a coffee at Vobster (or maybe a beer at the nearest pub )

I would go with every 5m. You don't really want too large a reel to start with - if it does go pear shaped, you just end up with X m more line spilling off the reel and tying you up. Use a felt to mark the line every 5m and then add the tape at your leisure. You only need to measure the first 5m as you can just keep folding the line to measure the same distance down the line. I'd also do a check measure evry so often.

You basically need a loop at either end of the line which is large enough to get another reel through. On Duncan's picture it looks like the tail end is then knotted and taped or cable tied onto the reel. Then when you cut the line to add another reel, make sure it between the loop and the reel. The loop at the start of the next reel is then larks footed through the end of the last line. Simple.

Well I'm confused now.

Think I'll re-read that a few times and then I'm sure it will be as clear as one of my UK cavern dives

Thanks Marcus
