| Did a search & found this Hello guys, I've been trying to get 200m 4mil nylon/polyester line and have been finding it most expensive. I have read in this thread that many of you experienced chaps are happy using the floaty polyprop. Is this advisable for us novices starting out? I'm broke so it's obviously tempting but as a newbie I figure I should be careful, not worth missing out of potential future cave diving for about £80 I'm currently waiting for a call back from planetFear in the hope they can do long lengths cheaper than on their website (by the metre) and will check out http://www.ropesandtwines.com/default.asp All input and advice gratefully received ![]()

| A large number of UK sumps are lined with 4mm or even 6mm polypropylene this works very well. http://www.ropesandtwines.com/default.asp Andrew.

| £36 ? Quote:
Put it on a fencing reel at £12 from any farm supplier and it is as strong a set up as you can get. I have a fencing reel into its 16 years of hard use still going strong. This is not a money saving operation just the best tool for the job (in my oppinion). Andrew

| Timko (Ropes and Twine) have come back to me offering 220m of continous 4mil nylon line for £25+VAT Given as all my other enquiries have resulted in costs of around £100 and most of them in only 100m coils I was pretty thrilled with this. I appreciate the advice regarding polypro but I was advised nylon/polyester(sinking) so, as a novice, I am happy to proceed with that for now I was very impressed with Timko as, not only did they get back to me speedily, satisfying my requirements, they have already added the 4mil line to their website site enabling online ordering now http://www.ropesandtwines.com/products.asp?cat=30 About 5-6 day delivery and that is including them now having to get it manufactured for them. So all in all, thumbs up to Timko I say ![]()

I need to make sure my line laying is up to scratch so I should be trying to achieve tautness Thanks for explaining the benefits of the floating line, I can see that I must admit, while I was advised against floating line some said UK Cave divers used it "'cos they're cheap" LOL

| I did see one cave diver stop in the middle of some road works on a dual carriageway so he could steal the blue polyprop that was strung between the cones. It was very reassuring to see someone tighter than me
