I'd be interested to know how much SRT training Kate was given prior to prusiking Titan. I suspect she was helped out of camera!

Must get round to that long crawl in Dan-y-Ogof soon! The water clarity in Swildons sump 1 & 2 was in good condition

It has been an inspiring series, climbing one was good and the sea kayaking last week was really impressive, made me want to get my canoe out and go paddling. I would love to do some caving this year, but work seams to get in the way of life.

The long crawl looked daunting, I am not sure that I would fancy that.

What about the brave guy who did it the first time, not knowing if it was going to pinch off and he'd have to back all the way out.

not a bloke at all according to Wikipedia

Quote:
The squeeze was eventually passed by Eileen Davies in 1963, a member of Swansea University Caving Club.

Exploration has been steadily continued by later cavers who have extended the cave to its present 10 mile length. Some of this length was reached through cave diving. One of these explorers was Martyn Farr, who wrote a book about the system (see below) in which he claims that the system will eventually be extended to at least 100 miles.
Hopefully going to do full cave course with Matryn, soon

Definately brought back memories of my first trip into 'Dany' in 2001. Did the round trip in one of Phill Short's 'old' wetsuits (which had been compressed at depth and had no insulating qualities left whatsoever !!!). Gavin (Newman)was with us on the trip and showed us Cloud Chamber, backlit - was absolutely stunning. Pity they didn't make Miss Humble get in a black rubber ring and swim the 'green canal' - that's definately character building !!
Last trip we did in there was to the Far North, the limit of exploration. It wasn't an easy trip and coming out through the long crawl was utterly pathetic, as I had got cramp in one leg - and somebody else had cramp in BOTH legs.......
Cracking cave though.

The BBC allow you to download the last weeks programs from all 4 channels using their iplayer and watch them back om your PC. It seems to work like a legal bittorrent for BBC.
Here is the link: BBC - BBC iPlayer - Welcome I'm downloading this program now!
