Indeed. And from what I can gather, he had a bit of a blast! Not only was the course very good (as you'd expect from Phil Short) but he got to mix with some of the biggest names in Florida cave diving including Jarrod Jablonski and Tom Mount...

Here's his course report...

Cave Course

That makes it sound like I am not interested in uk cave diving, which is not the case, it is just that you have to start somewhere and then gain as much training and knowledge as possible. After intro with Martyn on sidemounts, florida on back mount seemed like a good idea. Maybe next I will do some "dry" caving and sometime in the future some UK cave dives.

I really did have a great time with Phil, now looking forward to a nice family holiday in Tulum, with a few dives thrown in of course. If anyone is diving out there with space for a beginner 4-17 Feb drop me a line.
I will probably do a few guided dives with Xibalba or the dive centre at the hotel.

Florida in December and them Mexico in Feb - my life could look too good to be true! but I do work 6 days a week for the rest of the time and vary rarely get Saturdays off, so my other diving is concentrated mainly in Wastwater (all granite and mud no caves!)

Gareth (just finished work, back on at 6pm)

Gareth,

If you are based near Scafell the Yorkshire Dales isn't too far away: plenty of caving clubs and some great diving when you are ready to try it out.

Ciao,
Peter
