Cenote Diving

Hi all,

Anyone got any good information re: diving in the cenotes in the Yucaton.

I am trying to arrange to do a cavern and cave intro course with Steve Gerrard but would be grateful for any and all advice,

I need to balance my diving with keeping her indoors happy! and having a normalish holiday in Playa del Carmen etc.

ta folks!

Ian

I was there in November for a couple of weeks. Steve Gerrard is a very well acomplished cave diver/instructor/explorer etc. but there is some "diving politics" going on down there (like in Florida too) and you need to carefully choose who to train with, depending on your objectives. My cave diving buddy took his cave class with Steve G back in '95 but things have moved on a bit since then. PM me by all means if you need any specific info. about cave diving in Yucatan. Either way, you will have a great time there!

Enjoy!

Bob

I don't understand, can you explain this?

Surely the objective of the exercise is to learn to safely enjoy diving in this environment? What does politics have to do with anything?

I used Cancun Scuba a year or so ago.
They offered 2 cavern sites - we did Dos Ojos. Well worth it and not demanding.
I don't think that they do courses.
A different day out!
Enjoy.
