    Ah! Cancun.

I ended up there quite unexepectedly a few years back with my dive buddy

Rushed to the hotel on the middle of the hotel zone. Got changed and literally ran down to the beach (hurricane battered at that time) and stood there and took the magnificent scene in. Awsome surf and perfect white sand. Spectacular vista in either direction. What could go wrong? Well, everything from there on really.

Didn't rate the diving in Cancun. Didn't rate the dive centre where we went for our Rescue Diver course. The night life was suited to rampant teenage yanks. The hotel was not the best (hurricane Wilma finished it off just after we left). The food all tasted the same....Nachos, tachos, snachos, flachos...Oh and the crab speciality in the most expensive restaurant I've ever been in was poo.

The only highlight was the Cenotes. So if I ever went back there I'd stay in PDC and just dive the Cenotes. Maybe pop over to Cozumel if I felt the urge for some sea diving.

I'm going to be in Tulum for the first half of next year. PM if you want any info on tank rental, someone to dive with, etc.
Tulum for half a year sounds like a good prospect!

I am hoping to get over to Tulum for a couple of weeks in Feb 8th-22nd, with a view to doing some cave dives. I am happy to pay to do some guided dives, but the costs soon mount up so if anyone is about and wants a buddy that would be good. i will add to this thread if I actually get my way as to where we go on holiday!

We had some yank very, very nearly did the same when I was there, she was the size of an elephant and slipped and fell on the loose rocks, I felt a little bad when everyone else went to grab her to stop her falling and I didn't as I wasn't going to follow her down! Surprises me that no-one else has done it before as it's narrow steep and full of loose rocks at the top.

Glad I did it while I could though!
