| Hi Guys and Gals, This is a shameless plug once again for the Pink Coffin appeal. Its coming up to the date of Liz and freind's departure on their fund raising trek to Mt Everest Base Camp. The is still time, though not much, to give what you can. Please remember to click the boxes for gift aid as this adds much needed extra cash which would normally go into Gordon's Coffers (Boo) You can donate via this section by hitting the £Donate icon or going to this site: Justgiving - Pink Coffin Trek to Base Camp Mt Everest Please take time to read the comments by other donors and the statment by Liz as its updated occassionally. They Tug at your heart strings and make you donate more.... For those who didn't know Chris, he was a wonderfull man and Diver who was taken from us by a horrible disease called Motor Neurone Disease. This is your chance to help others affected by this Disease and maybe just maybe one day eradicate it? who knows...... ......but we won't unless you give some cash NOW!! Many Thanks. D

| I've had a couple of questions about how donating money for a trek raises money for the Charity, and doesn't the money just go to pay for the trek? Well: All the money raised goes to funding the Trek. One of the things Chris told Liz to do was to live life like there is no tomorrow. Included in this was to become a paramedic and to trek to base camp. I think this kind of trek is to help raise awareness of this cruel disease. Just asking for cash for the charity is nice but I think you have to generate interest for people and a trek to Mt Everest base camp is something which interests a great many people. Its one of those once in a life time adventures similar to travelling to Machu Pitchu (sp?). This interest generated also helps to get donors thinking about the charity for more than just a passing moment. As you think about it more, thinking about the trek, your more likely to donate. Surley more donations are a good thing right? Its all about promoting the charity and generating interest and adventures like this help keep interest up, which in turn hopefully leads to more donations. I hope this helps. ps reading the donors comments is great, there are a good many YDers on there. This makes me feel proud to be part of a great comunity. Dave C

| Can i just Clarify about the fund raising please. The trekkers are all paying thier own way so none of the money raised via the pink coffin site site goes to pay any expenses, it all goes to the Motor Neurone Disease Association which funds research into MND and supports MND sufferers. So 100% of what you give goes to the charity. Or even better if you tick the box saying you are a UK tax payer then the Government gives back the tax you paid on it to the charity too. Jules

| Hi everyone. Thank you so much for the YD support and donations. As Jules says EVERY PENNY YOU DONATE GOES DIRECTLY TO THE MND ASSOCIATION to help primarily with research. The 10 of us who set off on 30 March have all paid 100% for our own places. This is not a freebie holiday. In fact I am completely terrified. I kept trying to remember exactly what prompted Chris to suggest this and it was incredibly frustrating as I could not ask him! I get that a lot! But finally I remembered - it was this time last year sitting in our front room (where we were room bound for 2 and a half months) watching Michael Palin's "Himalaya". He turned to me and said "You're going there Liz!" AAGGHH! So I rallied the troops and am so thrilled to have company. Jule's sister Marce is my trekking buddy and Robert-Jan, Chris's best friend and second best dive buddy (Sorry RJ - I was still number one even though I didn't like going into those dark holes!!!) has promised to carry me up if I get sick! Also coming are two more divers Claire Turner and Jo Kennedy both of whom Chris and I taught to dive. So we will blow some bubbles! We will also scatter a few ashes from a mini pink coffin (yet to source!) I have have a pretty rough few months folks. Anyone who knows about the "grieving process" will no doubt identify. At first I was FINE and skipped through months of life without Chris. And then the truck hit me and I realised he was never coming back. In fact even coming up to a year I don't think I have completely accepted it... But one thing I do know is he would be very very very happy to know that his efforts to raise the profile of MND (and Disabled Diving) would be taken on by YD with such passion! Again - I can only thank you all and hope I get back underwater one day! I upped the stakes to £15k yesterday as we hit our target of £10k... Sorry! Keep helping - every tenner of fiver helps Liz x Justgiving - Pink Coffin Trek to Base Camp Mt Everest Pink Coffin Trek to Everest Base Camp Last edited by Liz Hall : 10-03-07 at 08:09 AM. |

| Yes as Dave says only a few more weeks before they set off. They were supposed to be on training weekend in the lakes but my little sister is down with a cold and confined to bed as a few of the group. So get better soon all those trekkers who are poorly! ![]()
