Do I miss buoyancy control through the lungs, no. Do I forget and breathe out and wonder why I haven't moved? Yes.

However, it is sooooooo nice being able to frog kick hovering 1" above silt and knowing that you could stay there all day without disturbing anything.
Yeah, it really is a bonus in caves.

Top tip. dont "go large" in a french restaurant,

I hate to think of the damage that those things would do in my garden - the regular size things are bad enough!

I have never used a rebreather but I think one of the attractions would be the ability to hold bouyancy whilst breathing. It does take a constant effort to hold bouyancy while deco'ing and I'm basically lazy. I don't think that I'd find not being able use my lungs for bouyancy control too difficult since when I fisrt started (before the days of bouyancy compensators) the only way to control your vertical position was by swimming and body angle.

Yes and no. For cave diving, while it is convenient on OC to inhale and exhale to pass over or under objects its is also handy on CC not to bob up and down while stationary. Being as my RB is sidemounted and the CL sits level with my chest on one side, I tend to roll backwards and forwards slightly during the inhale/exhale cycle.

Its nice not to make bubbles and knock down silt from above you. The main thing that I have to remember is not to hold my breath when doing tasks on CC as all this does is dump a slug of CO2 in the loop. On OC I would hold my breath while tying off line, writing things down etc. to preserve the vis.

Well I'm a total novice. about 12 hours on the box so far. I'm diving OC every day and CC when I get the chance.

I do like the control that OC gives you. On the box you just have to learn different control methods. Finning is a good way to go but I confess to taking a big breath which allows the ADV to squirt to go up and a breath out of the nose to go down. I know it wastes gas but I seem to have so much to waste at present.

I know that getting into the habit of finning more rather than cheating it would be good in the long term.
