Cool Flying a DIY unit Abroad

Hi,

Just booked to the Red sea in March 2007.

Just got to thinking.

I want to take my DIY breather.

In design its a closed circuit electronicly controlled unit.

Does anyone know what sort of paperwork you need to get it on a plane?

No not CE approved.

Any useful help would be appreciated

Regards

John

You shouldn't need any paperwork, you'd just have to confirm whether the airline requires cylinders to be either valves open and empty or fully removed.

Id say if it looks like a home made bomb thing with lots of wires your going to get buggerd by a man with large hands and rubber gloves, then a nice stay in Guantanamo bay.

Unless you like that sort of thing and a couple of months in Cuba!

Good luck.

Paperwork?

when we flew to sharm last december with our YBOD no-one asked for any paperwork. they were happy that it was dive kit. (Gatwick, Astraeus)

There is a thread on DIRx about divers (from Brussel) being refused to fly out RB to Egypt as the device is a "war object". These were standard RB (Inspo IIRC).

Please check with the airline........
