Hi all,

just to let you know that I wrote 2 new articles about rebreathers:

Bail-out Procedures for rebreather divers - Some people say "If in doubt, bail out!" but nothing is that simple. Even if going off the loop is quite straightforward, there is a few options to consider when going Open Circuit.

Modifying a Megalodon CCR for deep diving - After some deep dives with a Meg (201m/663 fsw), nobody can argue with the fact that this unit is one of the most reliable CCR on the marker. However some minor changes might help to make it more streamlined and more suitable for deep mixed-gas diving.

There are available to download on my web site at: www.cedricverdier.com/articles.html

I hope you'll enjoy

Cheers

Based on what statistics, just your own?

Although I would agree with Alan that it is not backed up by any references to imperical data in Cedrics article I think you only need to read the various forums to get the idea that certainly the meg seems more reliable than an Inspiration in any guise !

Before anyone jumps to any conclusions, whilst I know Cedric is a regular contributor to YD (not just a self publicist), and whilst mentioning the Meg on every dive, we should'nt be too cynical about his impartial advice.

Hi all,

I wrote: "one of the most reliable" and never said "the only reliable" rebreather to go deep!!
Feel free to think that the rebreather you like/use/plan to buy is as reliable as the Meg.

However, there are not so many units that have been used at 200m without problem (so far!).

The rebreathers used at this kind of depth were:
Mk 15.5
Ouroboros
Inspiration
Cis-Lunar (?)
Megalodon
Any other I forget?

cheers
