If you want a ECCR then the Meg with Apex2 has to be the clear winner

If you want MCCR The Revo has the best design but its not field tested, The Copis Meg has the best flood recovery and the KISS has the simplicity and a cost advantage over the Meg and slightly over the REVO (but the REVO with its HUD has a higher base spec)

Tim, your more than welcome to have a play on the KISS any time.

I dived it for the first time in a long time today. First time i dived a KISS I knew Jack. I was on day two of my Mod1. Todays dive in Layborn was a lot more interesting.

First impresions...

Ever so light, ever so compact and I laughed with joy at having a clear chest.

I dived with a 200g Thinsulate and a 5mm compressed Neo suit and i used 2kg of lead in fresh water. I could hold 2m stop but i was a shrink wrapped chicken with water in my wing. 4kg for the sea I reckon.

Work of breathing was no where near as good as the YBOD. I noticed it straight away.

Work load for holding set point was nominal but i was surprised at the amount of injecting i had to do to get it up to 1.0 at 6m It was akin to doing an 02 flush on the YBOD.

Trim was spot on straight out of the box using two dumpy Heiser 3ltrs and in water drag was considerably less than the YBOD and a bit better than the YBOD with the travel frame.

Setting up was simple enough but the counter lungs are a total pain in the arse to get on / off and the most apparent week point in the design. The lack of a dill inject was not a problem but I did think that its ability to cope with flooding is very poor. I don't like the lack of hydrophobic membrane on the bottom of the scrubber but i am loathed to further restrict the WOB.

The loop allows a much better field of vision than the YBOD and the length of the loop allows far more head movement.

The cable for the displays is very stick-y out-ey and I hated it but the rest of the rig is very neat.

Over all view...

I reckon i am going to love it but i am slightly concerned that Ill have to be conservative on deco to cover the fluctuations on the set point and i will have to be much more careful not to flood the damed thing.

I have dived the Vision M8, Nothing wrong with it its just got a few issues with traveling, coustomer service and single hand sets that put me off a bit. The cost of a new or even S//H Vision and a spare head is the nail in the coffin for me. I wont be getting one any time soon.

If I cant get on with the KISS I will be keeping a close eye on John and Liz 's new Apex 2 Megs.

I dived a faultless Classic YBOD for 18months. Then it went wrong and never stopped going bloody wrong. Had that unit staid healthy, I would still be on it now.

Having tried the Hammer Head I found it hard to go back to diving the Classic. The HH is a superb bit of kit. Its functions are definitely on a par with the Vision and I loved the user definable GF deco.

However since i first contemplated CCR I had a hankering for the KISS and the one i have now bought just was such a good deal I couldn't refuse. By the end of this season i will know if its the unit for me or if I should go back to ECCR. One things for sure Its not going to be able to do all my diving so I will have to use the HH or a similar unit for the deeper dives or start contemplating mods on the KISS that frankly i don't want to do.

Well thats what I think 6 years and minimal maintenance just cells and batteries
cant remember when I last washed the lungs out !!!....
I just cant understand why the outer of the lungs are falling to bits ? I have had 2 lots of patches on the lungs and it is the lung material still rotting the patches
are now falling out of the lungs ??
I think the material in the first place was faulty !!!

Any way looks like I had a goodish one as I have had no other problems as yet!

There are ways to sort this. See if you can route it under your armpitand then up the inside of your wrist.
