That's old - like 2000, maybe earlier...

Not really surprising, I'm not a RB diver, but even I know that attempting to recycle the stuff that keeps u alive isn't a bright idea. Although as noted, it was apparently fairly common practice at the time.

It's yet another example of why I'm happy not to have any training, you don't get people telling you complete bollocks and believing them because they are an instructor/guru. I'd never heard of anyone doing that either until I'd watched it. The two things I couldn't believe watching it were that he was daft enough to say that on the telly and that everyone else swam round him gawping at him for ten minutes while he had a CO2 hit.

As a supposed warning to rebreather divers it's an utter waste of time. I might make a video about how changing my cells every 3yrs is common practice and get a load of people to swim round me while I tox.

They may have said that it was common practice, but I have never met anyone who has done it.
