yeah i was smiling while i wrote it.
i thought the main requests for deposit was december time, as opposed to people showing enough interest for him to begin the production, but not overly sure. I would of thought there would of been a much bigger stink on RBW if he was getting very late on release.
Interesting! So looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer for a review! The real reason I was curious is from a planning point of view. I have an interest in going down the RB route at some point and was just wondering whether it was a better idea to buy one of these to have a play on than shelling out for a more expensive unit.
i hope your intention is to get trained before you play. honestly for the first year or more anyone on an Apocalypse is a tester and it'll take alot of dives to find all the glitches. If you want to go cheap RB this maybe the answer but don't bank on it yet. You can get a second hand KISS or Inspo for not much more than an Apoc (fully loaded IIRC).
A number of the early adopters of the Apocalypse are home builders who see it as a cheap source of useful bits. So should the production unit ever actually put in an appearance it may take quite a while for all of the bugs to be ironed out.
As a result of the limited experienced trainers and the amount of teething problems I expect the unit will excounter I can't see the Apocalypse being a good choice for a new CCR diver for some time - if ever. I'd look at going with one of the more established units if you're looking at making the switch anytime soon. The Apocalypse reminds of a quote from a Microsoft Executive when he was asked about the convergence between Windows 95 and Windows NT:
"We'll have it ready for release before Christmas. We're just not going to tell you which one." BTW that converged OS was never released.

FFS! they haven't released a manual for the thing, or any photos of it in a ready to dive state, they can't say when training will be available, nor who will be doing it
excuses for no photos are due to it being "foggy", no camera available, being overseas, CE audit, RBW photo limit being exceeded
its already overdue and revised release date is in three weeks
anyone taking bets?
On the back of that advice, I'll go down the second hand route then! Don't worry, I won't go near one of those things until I've done a course - I value my life too much!
I wonder what will appear and in which order? The Meg BMCLs? The Meg BOV? APECS 3? The Apocalypse?
I reckon the Meg BOV will be here in a few weeks. The BMCL will be here a bit later is my guess as they have only just finalised the design a few weeks back. I doubt if APECS 3 will ever be released as there is little call for it these days.
The Apocalypse.... I wonder if they are waiting before they have sufficient pre-orders to make the production run economically viable? Or was it all an elobarate scam to get the grant from the Scottish Government? Or will it suddenly appear out of nowhere and be the most amazing rebreather the world has ever seen (on kids skateboard wheels)?
Pass me the popcorn, this is going to be interesting...
