Being a noobie to the no-bubbles world I wondered how many of you seasoned vets had actually had to do a real bail-out to open circuit for real?
And if so, why?

Yup. I had to bailout after a flood after 45mins at 60m

Miss packed a scrubber and bailed out when it broke through early.
That's once in eight years and it was totally my fault.
No, but I've been close - my buddy had to bail when he flooded his CK due to a split mouthpiece.
I've never seen anyone move that fast underwater!

Yup - I went through a period of having to bailout on most dives, fortunately I had a BOV so it was no drama; unfortunately the piss poor WOB that the BOV introduced to my Meg was the reason I needed to bailout! Think of it as a parachute that causes the plane to crash![]()
BOVs make a lot of sense on a lot of units but adding the GG BOV to my Meg was an error. I will be adding the ISC one when it is available but Megs with the Meg ADV don't really need a BOV; however as I am about to lose the ADV I want a BOV back.

Yep, twice in anger.
Once due to packing the scrubber too tight and not having it secure on the rib, a 40 mile ride out to the wreck in rough weather with the unit banging against the bottle rack. Once on the wreck I had a breakthrough while working quite hard to remove something. Went through a 7ltr quicker than I ever thought possible.
Second time, again working hard to remove a port hole, did a few flushes, went OC for a bit then back on the unit. My buddy crapped him self and dragged me to the shot line, saved me having to fin! Haha
I always take it easy now, was working on some nice lamps last week taking regular breaks and after 15 minutes gave up. I know better now than to push it. There still there for another dive.
nope not in 9 years and lots and lots of hours!!!! on the inspo
nice to see most of the floods are on the kiss! hummmmm
how is the revo for flooding?
you can get a lot of water in an inspo before it floods and becomes unusable!

I've had to bail out twice on my KISS properly but I've also done a few bailouts because it was an easier option (could've stayed on the loop but OC was simple and quick).
First time was a gradual leak which slowly built up to a point where I had to bail out. I had just written a note to my buddy ("WATER IN LOOP... WANK") when the WOB went through the roof and CO2 really kicked in. The loop turned to rat shit within seconds.
Second time was ironically practicing offboard bailout and I managed to blow a gob of water into the loop. Same thing, CO2 within seconds and I really struggled to get off the loop.
I've only once had to bail off the Mk15 and that was my own stupidity. I bought one of those Seacure mouthpiece thingies but bought the wrong type i.e. the normal ones rather than the high flow RB version. The increase in WOB was massive and I was gradually becoming more and more hammered as the dive progressed until I reached the point I had to get off the loop.
Cheers,
Stuart
