we tried this for a period and its good for clinical situations but became displaced during transport and moving of patient . it must be used with a comercial tube holder .however ............. it was easy to reset after be displaced unless aspiration has occured .it also didnt fit certain patients where as the LMA imflatable cuff seemed to fit in these patients .best tube or airway is an ET tube . it stops aspirationmy experiences thats all .

Unfortunately we are not able to intubate because our new clinical governance team is not willing able to provide enough training!
We found that though not perfect we have not had any more displacements then the LMAs which have moved a few times.
How long did you trial them for, I would be very interested in swapping the results of our trial if you are interested?

we only uased them for about 6 months . in dublin the fire and ambulance services ane the same . all fire fighters are paramedic's with only a handfull being EMT's we used them both on the ambulance and on the fire truck . (fire trucks attened all major medcial emergancies including cardiac arrest's ) we trialed these over the lma and found them almost as good but just not as good if that maks sence .
in all possibilites when an person trained to Intubate was present this was the best practice and choice of airway . when LMA's where to be used we tried the one shown .
i dont have the figures but know that if the practioner had a choice coniderably more would choose the lma even though it took slightly longer to install .
