Do your dump now, or leave the pot...

Well, I didn't expect any replies to my post 'Hiring divers now' and lo, I didn't get any. This either means that no-one gives a shi-ite about my ramblings or that those who do have rushed off to do their 'commie' (I hate that title) course.

I hope it's the latter, 'cos even as you read this my company is scratching around to find divers to crew three jobs.

So, what can I do, short of printing a poster with some tw-t like myself pointing a finger with "Professional diving needs you... NOW!"

Prove to me that the sense of adventure still exists... and leave a post - good or bad - you won't hurt my feelings, I promise.

I'm 48 and have no pets and only one woman. I live in Sussex and have no professional diving certs BUT I do wear a FFM.

I am available to dive off the Sussex coast most weekends and I don't like strong currents ........... oh, and I like doughnuts after every dive.

May I be of assistance?

Sorry, what did you say? I only cought the end and it sounded like "cough"?

Finless,

At your age and with only one pet - tell me - what pearls of wisdom do you have to contribute to this thread, and please tell us what you are trying to say.

And just a quick add-on, I got a call today from a guy who has just completed his air course, he has no offshore experience, but by next week he will have 'cos I just employed him!

I was just trying to say that I wouldn't have minded trying diving as a job BUT that at my age you probably wouldn't want me despite the fact that I don't molest animals and am faithful to one woman and use a FFM which obviously marks me out as suitable commercial material and was leaving it so that you could reject me without hurting my feelings.

Anyway, with the family business the way it is I can't leave anyway ...... but it's nice to dream .........

A big shiny helmet.
Mermaids.
Doubloons.
Booty.
Pirates & parrots - I can still slap my thigh heartily and not wince very much .....although I do bruise easily ......

Suerly the job would have been mine, were I available?

What a prospect for someone looking for a career change. If they paid for training and signed people into a contract would that solve the shortage? ie they lay out x-amount but get a diver for so long at set amount of pay.
