'Transfer under pressure'? Blimey, I always wondered what that meant!

Seriously though, the point I am trying to make about NOT taking risks is that this is the ethos of true professional diving. We minimise or eliminate the hazards, thats why we have what the scuba community do not; bells with onboard gas, umbilicals, bailouts, comms, st/by divers etc, etc.

Sorry, had a few beers and now Bolshie... or Bolshoy... don't know... don't care!
900-1100 quid a day? as a consultant for offshore renewables i would be looking at about 400-650 per day starting wage before tax. Give it another couple of years and some decent sized projects, then taking on more ambitious projects you can charge the top amount mentioned above and then some per day.

An example is the average amount that a consultant for aerial bird surveys charges (the nearly top man on the research team) is about 800 quid a day! and thats only for a few hours during daylight!

Dont need to get wet for uber wonga - hug the turbines

Sorry for hijacking the thread

You are quite right, I reckon I was really meant to have been the 5th Beatle which would have seen me retired on my private island somewhere near Martinique... somehow that didn't work out and I ended-up instead with a big yellow bucket on my head, hanging by a hose from a steel-island. The Goggler could possibly have been a brain surgeon and TUP the No1 choice for testing the A380.

Each to their own I guess, though it is really nice when people post that they can earn equal to Mick Jagger for just selling mobiles/cheese-graters/human organs etc. I should have got more O levels!

Er, what about helicopters... the last time I flew on one (not so long ago as it happens) I was the only dive-crew member onboard - the rest were chefs, marine engineers, riggers and something else - they take the very same risks buddy, its not just you hairy-arsed deep-sea heroes that fly in them. Your problem is TUP that you believe your own publicity, I bet you enthrall everyone in your local with tales of the deep. Well, you may also be able to pull some wool over a few members of this site but you aint impressing a 30yr veteran, know what I mean?

FYI, I have had to deal with the aftermath of 3 (1 x Souix, 1 x Wessex, 1 x Dauphin) that did just that. Not my favorate style of diving, but it has to be done eh?

Like I said; you are believing your own publicity too much. I reckon 80% of the divers on this site could, if given the opportunity, turn their hand at commercial diving. Most don't want to, some couldn'd, some are thinking about it and some have already done it - and will be very successful - I'll help them where I can but they have 2 years max, 'cos after that I'm fully retired to my boat!
