Question where's the work (inshore divers)

We all know where you can go with a pt1 off shore certificate ,but where do the rest of us go ?

I 've just completeed pt3 surface supplied diver and finding it very hard to find any hint of work . ex Environmental Water Technician , Habour maintenance worker, using Scuba and common sense.

Is there work out there or is it just as bad as they say and was it all for nothing.

I'm in the final 3 weeks of my commie diver training at Fort William, and all the indications are that there is work a-go-go at the moment. Especially up here in Scotland.

Guys we know off the course that finished 2 months ago are pretty much all in work now, and our current supervisor/lecturer is taking 2-3 phonecalls a day offering him work.

Although YD is a nice recreational forum to visit, you're better off visiting The Commercial Diving Directory for commercial diving advice - they also have a comprehensive list of companies for u to contact for work.

I'm glad you made the big decision Big Hairy One - I guess you're going all the way to Pt1 eh?

Safe diving,

Just finished at Fort Bill a few weeks ago, and straight into a permanent civils job in Shetland (the other 11 guys on my course are also all employed, 2 here with me, and 2 straight offshore N.sea on £410/day..........)

Things looking quite rosy! The water in Shetland is clear as a diamond, the islands are stunning, and I'm pulling £36k/yr for a job that took only 13 weeks to train for.

Lots of people will pooh-pooh the above, but if you're considering going into commie diving, I'd seriously recommend it.

Hairy Bigyun... well done, it seems a long while since your first PM about doing a course. You might pooh-pooh the above when you get into sat

Again, well done Al!

Dive safe,

Berko

Well done on getting the job. Start my course at Fort Bill 3 weeks on monday so everyone getting jobs so soon is great news for me. Any tips for the course and finding work afterwards would be greatly appreciated.

cheers, Jon.
