Red face Any Work Out There!!!???

As like spongebob, I am also coming to the end of my suface supplied course up at the PDA in Dunoon! (Yipeeee!!!!!), However the next great task is to find that all important first job! Sounds more simple than it actually is I think; I was kind of hoping if any of you more experienced guys would be willing to share some of your commie knowledge, and perhaps point me in the right direction, give me a few leads, or at least give me a few tips. As you all know, as you have been here yourselves, its a big wide world of commie diving, and any help you can get is invaluable, especially at this early stage in the game.

Thanks for reading this, and to all you commies out there - head's up and safe diving.

Kind Regards

Bruno007 - Alias (Rich G)

1. Visit ADC-UK
2. Pick up phone
3. Profit

Personally, I'd recommend a stint in the Shetlands or Orkney. You'll more than likely be diving 3/4 times a week, rather than 3/4 times a month on the mainland.

Give Malakoff Ltd/Zetland Marine/C&R on Shetland or Leask (Orkney) a buzz.

Cracking diving conditions up there too.

Finally, don't get depressed about things - it may take a while to get your 1st start at this time of year, and you'll quite likely have months when you get nothing at all. Just need to persevere and get your face known.

where are you located?
do you have anything to offer other than being able to travel to your work place and back with a helmet on your head?

i didnt find it too hard getting work, i got a start within 2 days of leaving the academy, what was difficult, was consistancy of work as not having many contacts led to many down days.
jobs finished and your parked back on the shelf until the next job, could be weeks between them.
fortunatly i have a trade background which i fell back on to fill the gaps.
as i have went on i have made more contacts and the down days are less....
here i write this in the middle of 8 downdays....

best advice (from my limited career so far of 6 months) is send your cv then call them a few days after to see if they got it.
if you dont call, you will be very lucky to hear from them, probably bin your cv or keep it on file at best. few respond to emails.

example, one weekend i sent out my cv over 500 times (i had no work) and got about 5 emails back saying thanks, keep you on file or we have nothing.
any time i have called companies, i have got work or made an impression and they have called back.
be persistant, mail your cv and call them weekly, you will know if your badgering them by how they speak to you.

when it all seems like you have commited financial suicide, something will turn up. be positive. good luck
