DV diving in northern Ireland do the same for £1350, but then you have the expense of travel. DV Diving - Northern Irelands premiere dive school

plus you can get your chamber operations at the same time. i had this recommended by some BBC guys.

Hi, cheers! I didn't notice that in the list of schools. Maybe had too many sherries that day.

Is that ALST included in the same price of #1350?

Hiya yes if you could keep me posted on the reply, much appreciated!

The ALST is just life support tech - ie. chamber course...a bit of a handy extra for the offshore stuff but not essential.

It's a fucking minefield with all these courses and prices. Being a tight northerner I am doing careful research. There's some interesting price differences between UK and SA and Thailand. Even though they're all IMCA recognised (I think) but SA apparently isn't recognised very well for UK civils.

Regards

AnneMarie

i did all my training up to DM in thailand, to save on the money. but if you want to do commercial diving in the uk you need the HSE, which means nothing in the rest of the world. Im a camera man, and i have heard these words, "i would employ you if you had the HSE" so im working towards it.
i think DV diving is the cheapest you can get with the option of chamber opps (not included in price)they also take you down to 50 in the chamber for a laugh. the dive medic (dive paramedic) is more i think, takes longer than a week. assuming the one in Plymouth doesn't have chamber option?
other than that the cheapest i found was the dive academy, not sure of the website. i had a chat with the guys at dive show, and they quoted £2000 for Glasgow.

Uh-uh, HSE certs are the most recognised worldwide, if you want to work as a commie in the MEast, India, SE Asia, Russia, China, Australia... HSE tickets will get you in. Ask our American cousins who don't have HSE certs about trying to work outside the US.

David.

I did HSE Scuba with Tony in Plymouth last August, I'd definitely recommend him. He's incredibly knowledgeable, been around in the commercial world for a long long time,.

The course he offers is a fast track, it's basically accounts for the fact that the people who enrol are already reasonably experienced, a certain level of ability is required and expected.. .if you don't have that, then you wont get through.

The courses up in Scotland are the full deal, and will take somebody brand new to diving all the way through the required steps. It provides a much more indepth training, but perhaps too indepth for some people.

If you think you may have the required skill level for to fast track Tony's course, then give him a call and chat to him. He'll let you know what's involved and give you a good idea of wether it's right for you or not.
