| Another shit week! Found ourselves at Strangford Lough, County Down on Tuesday with instructions to hop on a barge, wait for the tide to slacken and jump in with a broco to burn off a 4m circumference steel pile. 5 hours after arriving, get a phone call from the contractor to tell us they'd been using scooby doo divers to diamond wire the thing for the past week, and had just succeeded in getting angry with the crane and bending the damn pile off. I should get a t-shirt printed 'I went to Ireland for Breakfast!' As an interesting aside, Northern Ireland (we gather) has no surface supplied diving companies - and the tides are so ferocious at Strangford Lough that there are only two 20 minute windows per day in which it is safe to dive. Said scooby doo's had regularly been found surfacing half a mile away after leaving it a little too late! |
