Lucky sod. That's on my list of things to see. I think humpbacks are the most beautiful of the whales.

Aye, and bloody noisey too, "waaaaaaaaarrrrphhhhhh!!!!"

It's quite beautiful in the South Atlantic today, sunny and warm with a big lazy swell... and its 5 min to 9 and that means its cheese-n-ham roll time!!!

I've never seen a whale in the flesh. It is on my wish list but I wonder has any Yorkshire Diver ever heard whale song whilst in the water? Or do you need special hydrophone gear to make it audible to us mere humans?

I know they are quite shy but doesn't their song travel hundreds (thousands?) of miles in the open ocean?

    That would be special...

    Me too.
If you have to think about it for more than thirty seconds, you probably shouldn't get in.

I remember about 10 years ago whilst working on a ship in the north atlantic having a group of approx 5 large whales pretty close. That was amazing and all of us stopped work and watched them for about 10 mins.
