| Iris? Who's Iris? No. only joking - looked into building an interface for those computers using IR but decided that as nearly all laptops have IR and you can get cheap USB to IR adapters for PCs so the only real hurdle to get over was to make a software interface/driver that would "appear" as the real Mares one. Unfortunately my low-level software skills are more than a little rusty and I think it would be best left to someone who knows what they're doing! Anyone fancies it, please let me know As to other makes (eg. Uwatec Alladin) I'm working on one at the moment, but as usual the hardest part is actually connecting the damn dive computer! | Hi Luke, Thanks for the offer but I've already tested my interface on 2 or 3 different USB to serial adapters and it works fine (even on a Palm PDA converter!) Cheers anyway Muzzer Quote:

| A bit late joining this thread but.... If anyone has details/part numbers/suppliers or pre-made plugs for the suunto vyper/stinger it love to know about it. There are currently 5 people in the club who can build the actual electronic interface but have failed to get a plug that connects and fits properly into the computer. If anyone is making connectors that fit then im sure myself and the others would be prepared to pay for these. Failing that, any ideas/designs/part numbers of how to DIY would be a great help. Just to clarify, its the actual plug to go into the dive computer not the other end. |

| Water-contact plugs Hi String, I've had the same problem. I had to make mine up by hand using the spring contacts used in the "bed of nails" type test jigs. The only place I've seen what look like "proper" connectors apart from the original Suunto ones is a guy who sells the interfaces on eBay. Guess he must have acces to CNC machinery or such. Muzzer

| I havn't actually finished mine yet but have found the green plug mentioned in one of the interface projects and am using a watch strap pin cut in half for the contacts, I really should finish it but am having trouble doing anything other than surfing at the moment. I'll try to find details for the plug. HTH
