| Hi folks, If you have a Suunto computer that supports uploading dive profiles to a PC or similar and don't want to pay £60-£70 for a 'proper' one made by Suunto, then I might have just the thing for you at less than half the price. I have made a few of these interfaces in the past for friends/buddies and they work just like the more expensive version, they just don't look quite as pretty! http://www.yorkshire-divers.co.uk/fo...tachmentid=441 You may have seen a thread by luke284 who was doing a similar item a little while ago which I sort of 'hijacked' (with his permission) when he ran out, so I thought it was high time for a new thread. These interfaces fit all the 'normal' Suunto models that use an oblong hole with two water contacts at the bottom (eg. Vyper, Vytec etc.), and I can make one to fit the Spyder and Stinger at extra cost as well. They connect to your PC/laptop via the 9-pin Serial/RS232 port, but don't worry if you shiny new machine doesn't have such an outdated thing as I can supply a USB converter if you need one. Each one made is individually tested. I've already sold 5, and have enough parts left to make another 5 right now. I can order more if you don't mind waiting a little longer, drop me a PM if you're interested. TIA Muzzer

| Luke's worked spot on. If this is the same thing then 'tis a good bit of kit. Woz.

| Hi Edward, USB shouldn't be a problem. I've tested the Suunto Dive Manager software on a few different types of USB/Serial adapters and as long as the one you intend using can be set up to be 'seen' as a standard communications port (COM1 to COM8), and has a DB9M (9-pin male) connector then all should be OK. Alternatively, I can order one for you (around £5-£6 plus postage) and add the cost to the price of the interface. Hope this helps, Muzzer Quote:

| Cheers Kev, glad you like it. The only drawback with having one of these if you're like me is you can actually see how cr@p you really are Muzzer Quote:

| Have just bought a new vyper and also got the PC interface. Unfortunately this thread started about a week too late!!!!!!. Same prob as Edward. No serial ports on my laptop. Friend has given me a USB/serial connector but can't find the installation disk as yet. Any ideas becuase "Add new hardware" is detecting it but can't install it properly and my suunto wont talk to the laptop yet???? Boo hoo Help me please Kath |

| Hi Kath, sorry you missed the posts by luke284 and me. Still, the proper Suunto ones do look a bit better than my home-made ones! Getting a non-standard USB device to work without the correct drivers is a nightmare I'm afraid, even if you're running Windows XP (which does a fairly good job of recognising most USB devices). The only chance you've got really is to try and find out the manufacturer of the adapter. Are there any labels, part numbers, FCC ID numbers or similar on the cable or connectors? Can the guy you got it from remember where he bought it? If you can get any details I can try and find out more for you. If all else fails you can buy a new one pretty cheaply off eBay. I just got one for £3.99 plus postage. Hope this helps Muzzer Quote:
