| VPM in a nutshell It's a bubble model rather than a disolved gas model Deeper deep stops + shorter shallow stops = happy diver (VPM-B) or bent diver (VPM) The thing that's always put me off VR3s is the mystic fudgings of the deco algorithm... plus the price... oh, and the UI.... |

While people like me are wondering if we should give it another 5 minutes because we're not cold and it's not too bumpy other people are desperate to be back on the boat and be eating all the biscuits before I get there. These days I carry my own biscuits so I can use weaker and weaker gradient factors. I'm not sure why Mark cares. He now has a blendermatic so he can deco forever for 20 pence. nigelH |

| Au contraire Nigel - it's one of a crop of "get you out of the water in a better state" models, the other one being RGBM. I'm in no rush to get out of the water - I know how long I'm going to be in for so it's up to me to be prepared to be cold/bored. I agree that 5 mins in the water is a bargain compared to hours in the pot, but if you can use a deco model that minimises the chances of getting bent in the first place that must be a good thing. Were you one of the ones to say that dive computers were dangerous and that we should all stick to our RNPL tables??? |

V-Planner soft where. Only reason I care is I am no doing my bail out tables on V-planner as Decoplanner is not a CCR package and Proplanner is horrible to use. I add my own deep stops to the VR3 and smooth the shallow stop curve thus reducing the 6m stop so that’s not much of an issue but I would be very interested to experiment with the V planner profiles and see how well I felt after the dive. IF I can shave that much off the 6m stop and still feel good after then I am obviously going to use it. If I don’t then it’s back to 20/80GFs and my own personal fudging. I don’t want to set records or look hard for doing hardly any deco but I do want to minimise the boredom and do a cleaner profile so VPM might be the answer. I also want to use a computer for deco and not run tables so having this option available on a dive computer will be a big plus ATB Mark CHase
