Just noticed that Pierre's battery appears to have one of those check the voltage strips in. You want to avoid using these in any underwater electronics. Increased ambient pressure could operate the indicator causing a voltage drop. The indicator can be disabled by cutting through it with a knife.

The 3.6V AA lithium is available from photographic outlets or direct from DeltaP. Try 7dayshop

Just a thought

Sorry to bring this back up,,

I just had a barney with DeltaP, £80 to replace a knackered plug, I would rather pay twice that and have 29M of spare cable.

Did anyone actually go ahead with this and if so, do you have a couple of meters of cable I could buy off you. Or, alternatively, anyone want to split a 30M reel.

Andrew

Question VR3 Display Fault

Just noticed that a row of crystals on my display is no longer working. Can see its dead when the VR scrolls on start up. The row in fairly central on the display, guess thats where the screen bends most under pressure.

Doesn't really make the screen unreadable, so may well continue to use it as is. Will see how much it costs to fix if not covered by any warranty (assume it's not).

Has any one else had this problem?

JT

VR3 Link Cable

Hi,

I tried resurecting and old thread, but I am not certain if it made it so I thought I would start a new one.

A while ago people were looking at making there own VR3 link, well mine has kinda died. There is corrosion all the way up the cable, so I need to replace it.

Does any of you have any of this Belden 1192A cable, if so, can I buy a couple of metres off you.

Thanks,

Andrew

Sounds like a break on circuit board for that line on the LCD Matrix.

We have a lot of problems like these where I work with LCD's.
Usually something like a dry joint on the soldered part of the LCD matrix to the PCB. Or a problem on the LCD display driver chip for that LCD matrix line.

Doubt knocking it will make it happen.

But you live and learn.

Regards

Adam

VR3 Info Please

Right then

I dive with a twinset of Nitrox, and then one or two richer mixes of nitrox (typically 50 or 70) in stages. I need a computer that can cope with the above.

I'm looking at the VR3, but have the following questions

1. Exactly what flavour of the VR3 do I want for the abovce sort of diving, my understanding is I can upgrade to other flavours at a later date
2. Where from, and how much
3. I want to be able to download profiles to a pc, please explain how this works for the VR3, Ive heard mixed reports about its log software etc. Are there better alternatives, and again where and how much
4. Finally, the only concern I really haver is that I hear a lot about very short battery life, and indeed a mate of mine that purchased on a few weeks ago didnt even get it into the water before the low battery warning appeared. Is this a design fault, or user error?

Much thanks in advance for all sensible advance, and sod off in advance to anythign posted by xmatelot.
