That's more than enough. My colour VR3 has done 40 hours on the one lithium battery, just don't keep checking the logs or doing simulated dives and you'll be fine.

I do dive planning on my VR3 and have the light set on all the time, I change the battery after about 30 dives or so as the lithium Thynoryls fail without much warning, I'd put a new one in to go, and take a spare.

Older VR3

I am looking into buying a VR3 for Normoxic/Full trimix OC. Rather than buy a new one have been looking at Rebreather world and on this forum plus fleabay.

Given that I will only be running OC is there any disadvantage in buying an older VR3 - for example V2.1 CXR. I am not worried about a colour screen or Big graphics or any other add on.

An all singing and dancing spectrum would be nice but probably overkill. Having used a VR3 extensively then would refer to go down this route rather than look at alternatives as they remain too expensive.

Thanks

Ian

Thumbs up

Hi Ian,

I've done this myself. I've had no negative experience. I bought a 4 years old one last year, and it suits me fine. It doesn't even have an external port. You'll save half the cash you would on getting a new Colour, and will most probably be able to get one with a port.
