| Computers & Dive Timers: Discuss Where do they got those wonderful toys? in the Dive Kit and Equipment forums: I'm not mental, it's a quote from Batman. Has anyone seen or used the new Suunto D9 yet? Highly unlikely ... |

| There is a (small) review in Diver which shows the full screen (depth, air remaining, bearing etc) and says that the unit and the remote air transmitter will go for (roughly) £650 and 300 respectively.

| I have seen and had a dry-land play with the D9. Nice shiny bit of kit, but a little too expensive. andy |

| Digger is flogging a mosquito at the moment. PM me and I'll forward his email address. If you are buying it for a dive tool then it's a bit small and only good for blue water diving really (according to Digs) and if you are buying it to show off down the pub then it's crap for that as it looks like a cheap Casio, as does the Apeks Pulse. Personally for the amount of £££ you would spend on a D9 I would get a VR3 and an SK9 compass. Not, I'll grant you, as good for showing off down the pub but much better for showing off underwater. And in colour too! My mate's Nokia phone has a digital compass on it. Crazy. Then again it also has a torch, thermometer, spirit level, sound meter and camera. More of an electric Swiss Army knife. Oh- and you can make calls on it too.

| Thanks Woz Having seen the price above, you are right about the VR3 against the D9. Including the transmitter it might be cheaper to waterproof my laptop and just take D-plan down with me. The Mossie is for a friend who dives less frequently than me, in Blue Water only so it makes for a good choice I think. I will be sticking with my bulky, but readable in the murk Vyper for now. I have PM'ed you re Digger. regards |

| I had one of those UWATEC digital compass jobbies for a while... Ebayed it in favour of my old-fashioned swivelly one though. |
