Question Apex Quantum

So, after reading a few threads entitled 'Puter says NO!!!' or similar I'd like to gauge what the owners of the Quantum think of it so far. I'd appreciate only those who own one or who know someone who owns one to comment. I'm after a quick comment on what you think of it, where you bought it and how much, and if you are happy with it and would buy it again given the choice.

I'm sure some kind Mod will put a simple pole on here as I can't figure out how.

Like it,
Like it but wouldn't buy it again,
Dislike it, would buy it again,
Dislike it, wouldn't buy it again,
Dislike it, its on Ebay...

Cheers,

Dave C

Bought November.
30ish dives.
Basically I like it and have had no problems.
It is more conservative than an Aladin Pro Ultra.
I would not buy another for the simple reason that the light cannot be left on permanently. A real pain when doing other things at night.
For the price very good.

(It'll probably die on me tomorrow now )

I bought it for £165 it works very well the only down side so far is the strap it is to short to get past the second hole when wearing a dry suit.

Thumbs up

..seems good value for money. Main attraction for me was clear and relatively large display. Shortish strap no trouble with neoprene wrist seals. No reliability problems since last November (10 dives)............

Is there an updated model coming out soon? The similar Cressi Archimede is into Mark 2 version now I believe.

Very good question Dave...I still have mixed feelings.
As I have mentioned in other posts, Kirsty [ my buddy and babe ] and I bought one each just before Christmas, on the fifth dive, Kirsty´s switched to Nitrox and locked.
We e-mailed Apex that evening, we were both surprised with their response.
We were expecting questions, " How, and under what conditions have you been using it ? ".
The reply was straight forward...Please return, and we will replace it [ or words to that effect ].

At the time there were about 40 digits difference in the serial numbers to seperate our computers, now there are about 20,000. I now have 18 dives with mine, without any problems. However, to be honest I have no confidence in the Quantum.
There have been too many people that have had to return them.

I have my backup, Uwatec digital timer and BSAC 88 Tables. I should say, they are not my back up…the Quantum just gives me times in time out, water temps…and I´m able to down load a profile to the PC.

Yes, they are cheap…getting the bus too work is also cheaper than buying a car.

Like it.

Good price, good to use, had some QC problems though as you've read, but still would consider it again.

I don't have fat arms/wrists I guess. I wear mine about 2-3 inches up from my wrist, just folds up the membrane suit a bit, and not uncomfortable at all with a 200g thinsulate. Saying that I was thinking of replacing it with some velcro, just because I reckon it would be easier as well as more secure. Opinions?

I bought mine early December £149. So far done 17 dives with it and have had no problems.

I agree with strap being a bit on the short side though, using a velcro strap might be a worthy mod to the 'puter.

Cheers,

JJ44

that's a cheap one - honest. And it will keep Dave so much safer and he wont need to upgrade cos its mixed gas too. If you loved him you'd let him buy it, in fact you'd buy it for him.

Matt
