Suunto Mosquito Nitrox settings - HELP please!

Can anyone who uses a mosquito for nitrox please PM me so I can pick your brain over how to change the %age nitrox, as if the instructions in the manual are followed it doesn't work (and it's not just me as two others have tried to set it as well)!

I don't use the Mosquito myself so not sure if this is relevant, but one thing occurs to me is that it may be due to the surface interval you've had between your last diving? I think the Suunto computers want 24 or 48 hours surface interval before they'll change from air to nitrox, because of not knowing your oxygen loading etc. If that is the case (just a guess) then easiest way is to just dive in nitrox mode all the time (ie 21% when using air).

Thanks David, it is set on 21% but will give it a go changing the percentage now it's been more than 48hours since last dive

Lynne,

I don't know if the mosquito is the same as the vyper so ignore me if you like.

On my vyper you have to change the computer from being an air computer to a nitrox computer. You do this through the 'set' menu and set the mode (you can chose air, nitrox or gauge).

Then when you are ready to dive you go back into the 'set' menu and set the dive. This allows you to change the amount of o2. If you leave it too long before diving the computer resets itself back to 21%.

Hope this helps in some small way

lol you would have thought so but I had it in air mode for the first week and it wouldn't set any percentage other than 21% - I did my nitrox dives using Chris's Vytec after he spent ages trying to get it to work

Many thanks for all the PMs guys I now have it sorted after a step by step guide from Deven Diver (completely different from the instructions though!)

A tip on the side.....just leave it in the EAN mode even if diving air as it will reset itself to 21% if you are out of the water for longer than one hour. But you can ad or subtract at will just before the dive.
