smashed compass

Yesterday, dived Tynemouth. Decided that it would be very good fun to get into the rock carved pool, and 'surf' across the concrete wall into the sea on a wave.

It wasn't. Kind of got stuck - looking less like a seal and more like some kind of beached walrus - and in the midst of all this bust my compass (on my gauge)......

So, am wondering. Is it worth me buying a new compass bit to stick back in - or should I forget it and get one that goes on my wrist instead. What do people think about compasses - I have to admit - the one on my gauge was a bit of a pain in the arse to use.

I prefer a wrist job to one in the console any day.
Just be carefull you dont get led astray by the pooter battery causing a
magnetic field though and pulling your needle off.

Me to. I've also butchered mine so it has bungee rather than a strap so I cal move it down to my hand to use it easier.

Well, it is cheap stuff and it comes almost from the local gardening store, but it works fine and it's very solid. We tried to destroy one by hitting it with a hammer... we succeeded but we really had to hit it hard - http://www.stde.ch/en/faq.php
