| Doing the same prob myself!!!!! No easy answer. Pick three Apex, suunto, uwatec, place in a hat, take your pick. OR Read all then advice then do the above (TEEEEHEEEE) |

| i dont actually know the answer to this one so will put the question forward. How much was a vytec 2 years ago? are you going to spend an extra £100 now only to see the price come down by 50-100 quid over the next 2 years before you actually get to use the extra functions? i would say buy what you need to buy when you need to buy it. ie get the vyper now then flog it and upgrade when you need the vytec. | All in my opinion... Either Vyper of Vytec will do you for the next year or two no worries. If you already think you'll be wanting to do accelerated deco diving, then go Vytec, otherwise Vyper is a solid single mix computer. HTH Dave.

my 2pence worth .. go for suunto or uwatec - apeks still don't seem to have got their computers absolutely right yet how many gasses? well, you'll probably want two in the long run.... three's a bit excessive - vyper does single gas or guage (dive timer and depth guage) - so this will work well enough, until you move on to either accelrated deco or trimix (and you know you WILL want to) vid

| See no help at all Ok helpful bit The vytec as I understand has what I see as a flaw.. with a bottom gas and a deco gas... the deco time shown is based on the gas you are using only.. you cannot see your combined gas deco time.. I think The Apex appears to still have question marks about build quality The new uwatec tecs don't have the same number of appraisals So I eventually went for the Uwatec as when/if my diving goes beyond its abilities I will use tables. So personal preference. I have ordered it today from my LDS I guess they all are as safe as can be in diving and each one will have its followers. Be warned it does become a mine field!!! Good luck it may drive you barking looney!!!!!!! |
