Most people dont buy expensive computers to use in gauge mode, they are left with them as their diving evolves, ie move to DIR no need for a computer, or buy VR3.

Okay, fair enough there. Next mini question then.

Why do some computers allow you to go up to 100% O2 yet are not gas switching? (some Aladins are for sure)

If you were switching richer for deco, that's fine but doing a normal dive on 100%?? I'm sure it'd be nice to pootle at 4-5m with no DCS risk but who would do it?

Richer than 50% is unlikely IMO to be used as a bottom gas bby 99.99% of divers.

Maybe people just like to have the flash features

Had a quick look at the suuntos the other day, comparing stuff, the majority will not do more than 50% and when it does, it allows switching (vytec-d9).....what puter do you have in mind that does more than 50% and doesnt allow switching? I agree it sounds a bit daft..

Well the new Aladin Tec does. I was looking at it as it does guage mode too but the extra features for the cost didn't make it worth it for me.

Some of the older Aladins do as well I think. The AirZ,O2 that I used could be linked to a wireless RB sensor placed in the breathing loop so maybe that's why that one runs up to 100%

Evolves? Shouldn't that be 'devolves'?

DIR - divings version of a naturist!
