Possible to convert Suunto triple console to double?

Looking at the shape i suspect the answer is probably a no here but worth asking.

I've currently got a suunto triple console (SPG and compass mounted back to back with depth gauge sticking out further). Its beginning to annoy me and im finding it slightly bulky.

Ideally id like to have just the SPG with the depth gauge mounted on the back of this to make a small console and the compass on a retractor or possibly wrist mounted.
Is there any way at all to fiddling with the console to do this or am i onto a loser even trying?

Just take the screws out and it comes apart. As long as its the newer design console. Its dead easy to do. If you want to get rid of the compass for a wrist compass I'll have it. regards, Andrew

I used to have a triple console too many moons ago however the best thing I ever did was pull it apart and have just the SPG clipped off out of the way where it doesn't catch on stuff and destroy all the marine life as I swim over it. Eliminate the danglies! Personally I'd just remove the console altogether and get a wrist strap for the depth gauge too.

Cheers!

Dave

Dont really want a wrist strap for depth gauge (as its a backup anyway). I want it back mounted behind the SPG. I will already have a computer, maybe a watch and compass on the wrist.

Ive got the thing apart, got the SPG out, got the depth gauge out but cant see how the compass comes out of its holder. Does it just pull out with brute force or is there something more subtle ?

EDIT:- Just got the compass out but the depth gauge wont fit through the old compass hole so i guess there is no way to move the gauge to the back of spg (?)

You need to get a separate rear holder.

If you haven't got the manual, get thyself over to www.suunto.com and download it, it has all the info.

Makes sense. Looks like i need a "CB Double"?

Any idea where to get these from (cant see them on the usual suspects sites and suunto dont seem to do direct) or how much? Wondering here if im better off buying another double console and separate compass.

I would have thought that any Suunto dealer should be able to get one.

No idea about the cost though.
