Question Help with IR link.

Help! I'm trying to get the IR link to work between SmartTrack and my Aladine prime. The IR port is working on the PC, and the IR transfer icon comes on on the computer, but I keep getting a message saying "Not connected with Uwatec Computer"......"OK".

NO.............NOT OK!

Anybody had similar probelms? Any idea what to do to make the damn thing work? The manual and Uwatec website are next to useless!

Rookie (the frustrated)

Have you tried changing the transfer speed on the Prime?

Give up

After lots of fiddling around and frustration, consulting the local agent and other divers, I just decided to go for the Uwatec IR product which worked perfectly first time. Its more expensive but i didnt need all the hassle.

Thumbs up

I find with mine I need to hold both things really steady. I've just got a basic USB IR but it does the job fine. I would generally do it about an inch apart and just hold them for the ten secs it needs to transfer.

I had exactly the same problem with my Smart Pro, it will not link to software on an XP home PC but is OK with one at work which is XP Pro.

I tried changing the speed on the prime, and have tried on my win98 laptop also. It reconises the prime, and shows a window with Aladin computer communications status in. All the windows systems say its working, but I now get "Error in infrared communications - retry". At this rate I'll soon need a new laptop....and window! I just want to see the pretty graphs for my last dive. Is that too much to ask?

Rookie, Do you have a PDA ?

If you do download the Traveltrek software and use the IR on the PDA it works really well.

Just done a deal for a PDA.

Just arranged to get a PDA from my brother. I'll give that a go when I get it.

Thanks for the help,

Rookie

usb IR

I bought a cheap unbranded USB Infra Red device for £20, worked first go.

Windows XP Pro, USB IR and Aladin Prime within a few inches of each other.
Works a treat, used this computer now for 16 dives and all uploaded to PC.

Great Value computer with easy to use software and nice user interface.
