Question Mares M1 computer

hey.
Ive had my mares M1 RGBM dive computer for erm... 2 years ish, and to be honest ive been very pleased with it. Lots of people take the mick, but there not that bad! Anyway i was wondering if anyone else had one and if they had had any problems, because mine has seemed to get one now, lol. The computer is ok before, during and after the dive. Does everything its supposed to. Then when i come to down load the data of the dive computer on to my pc, it downlaods the date and time of the dives but nothing else, no depth and stuff and wont produce a graph. I was wondering if anybody had any idea of what it could be? Im probably going to take it down to the dive shop and get it checked out.

Question

So glad i bought I Suunto when I started diving. Sounds really bad customer service, by the manufactures, or was it the suppliers?

Have you tried (if you can) doing a reset. Perhaps the memory is full and does not have the over-right oldest dive functionality the Suunto does? Try removing the Battery? At least you can then start again with dive logging from now?

Yep, I v'e also had that problem, it seems to happen now and again but usually a couple more attempts uploading it sorts itself out.

I've found another glitch too, The IRIS software will not run at all during the month of february !!. I can however get it to work if I change the system date to any other month. Weird or what ?

I beleive the problems are with the software and not the M1, as with other devices the software has been produced by a third party and not Mares.

hey!
Thanks for all the comments. Erm... i think the M1 does have a auto over-ride thingy, but correct me if im wrong. I tried up loading afew more times and the profiles came up, so that solved that, thanks. As of the febuary thingy, mine works fine but is very strange that i can only up load on one windows account, if i try on my old mans account it wont even let me click the up load button. Do any of you fine that the IRIS is sometimes a pain, with it being infra red, i find it hard to upload sometimes. A simple plug-in method would have been easier. I think i might change to another dive computer and use the M1 as a back up, but its all money, and being a student means i dont have much, lol.

Thanks again!
Sven

I have the older M1 - I have about 350 dives on it and I'm happy with it.

The software is another matter. It is pretty crap and I have also had problems downloading profiles.

There is a limited memory so if you have a lot of dives on it, particularly long ones you can lose data on some of them.

To be honest it's only really a problem if you really need downloaded profiles.

The computer itself is solid, has a great screen and backlight, takes batteries that you can find anywhere and change in seconds etc.

Removing the batteries does not wipe the memory.

If you want to get rid of yours cheap then let me know - I quite fancy the RGBM model.

I have an M1 RGBM too - I like the computer, dead simple, clear and easy to use. Have had some issues with the software too though. I downloaded the latest software version from the Mares website which solved the problems that I was experiencing - may be worth a shot if you have not already done this.
