Have you tied uninstalling it and reinstalling the latest version from the US - SCUBAPRO UWATEC - North America I recently installed SmartTrak and my SmartTec syncs with no trouble via a 3rd party USB iRDA dongle. The trick is to have then iRDA and the comp kissing each other.

i have already yhe same problem, i stop yhe installation at the end of the program and the installation software not reponding. The unique solution is a ctrl-alt-del to stop the program..

| I've just got a TEC 2G and it comes with a later version of SmartTrak (1.0.4.0). If you PM me an email address I'll send you that version tonight when I get home (it's about 3Mb). XP SP2 should ensure that you have the latest Jet updates (later than what you get in the Jet 4.0 update 8 download), which is probably why you get a message saying that you have newer files. It does sound like some of your Jet files are broken. This page here details the file versions you should have: Information about Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 To check the versions you need to search for the files (usually in c:\windows\system32), right-click the file, select Properties and look at the Version tab.

Lazio - tried those things. All the Jet files are there and in working order, but the installation still crashes and it tells me that I need Jet to run the program. I've sent you a PM

Well I'm not one to let things defeat me, and finally my perceverence has paid off! I was looking at the Smarttrak program again and the same error messages, and was trawling Microsoft's knowledgebase for answers. Was drawing nothing but blanks but then I came across this page: Updated version of the Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 replication files is available in the Download Center I thought "What the hell" and gave it a try, and it worked! I have no idea what it did, but it got it working. So I've now got a bunch of dives to catch up on. Hopefully this will help others if they are suffering from the same problem. It's taken almost a year to figure out, but I've finally got it working!
