SmartTrak MDAC issues

I am having problems as well with SmartTrakon my Desktop computer. I get a message to update my MDAC software. My Desktop has Windows XP Home SP2 and the latest MDAC 2.8 SP1, but Smarttrak doesn't open. BUT.... I have exactly the same Windows XP Home on my Laptop and hey presto!, SmartTrak works fine.
