There. Have just saved you the worry of getting a DS model.

You can even do DS OTF a la DIR with a computer, almost doing GF deco if you know the number tables (which are dead easy). Would relieve the boredom on the way up I suppose but you'll hang around shallow for ages waiting for the Suunto to clear.

Ok, Ok.......... so I'm a muppet. What is OTF and GF ? (Am I going to regret asking this?) Have I got this right, you calculate your deepstop by adding your max or current depth to the depth of your first stop, then divide by two? And you do this until the figure is less than 10 ? Am I getting there? I think this thread wants moving to the Tech Dept.

Yes. It always happens. Someone asks about a newbie computer and before post #5 we're talking about the VR3, Trimix capabilities and OTF (on the fly - the DIR deco system) or GF (gradient factors). As well as, of course, deep stops for divers not yet qualified to go deep.....
