| Second-hand Vytec vs New Gekko What of these sounds like the better offer, a second-hand Vytec ~£150 or a new Gekko for ~£135? I haven't even done basic nitrox yet, so the thought of needing the gas-switching seems a long way off, and with the "work-arounds" available I can't see huge advantages of the Vytec over a Gekko. However at the same price maybe the Vytec would be worth the investment, is there anything that goes wrong with Suunto computers over time or do they last forever? (Excusing the user-replaceable battery of course). Thanks for any advice, Ian |

| i can do you a second hand vyper for 170 cant see you getting a vytec for that but good luck if you can |

| Definitely the Vytec at that price! Great computer and much more versatile than the Gekko (which is also a good computer). |

| Yup the Yvtec is a bargain. Buy it then ebay it and pocket the difference. Put the money towards a new Gekko. Chris

| Even though you haven't done nitrox yet, I would lay a pound to a penny you will do at some point. If i were in your shoes, I would go for the Vytec. And keep it.

| Vytec every time Ian I remember going to buy my first computer in 1999. I was recommended to buy a Nitrox type. I said that I had no intention of ever doing nitrox or even diving in the UK, but bought it anyway. Last weekend I was doing my Trimix TDI course to 58 metres in the NDAC at Chepstow. Buy the best you can afford, you'll grow into it.............. |
