Duty rate for dive equipment (including rebreathers) is 1.5%. Search for TARIC and Woz has a post with a great link.
Hmm, well I think it comes under 8543 89 97 99 which is "Electrical machines and apparatus, having individual functions, not specified or included elsewhere in this Chapter" and then other/other/other etc, but who can tell really, in which case it's 0%,

I have to say it was the bloody handling charge by UPS or Parcelfarce or whatever they were called that really pissed me off.

Don't mind paying the duty per se, but £13 for doing basically feck all! That was annoying

If you sort out all the TARIC code stuff and get them to send the correct number of copies of the invoice with the goods, all coded up and with the correct declarations on then there should not be a handling charge.

It's when they get a package where they don't know what the contents are and have to sort out the declarations and customs clerances themselves that they apply the charges. Generally sent by ignorant fcukwits who don't find out the info before hand then moan when they get charged.
