| Import duty Does anyone know what I would pay in the way of import duty if I bought a dive computer from the US. I know I'd have to pay the VAT, but what else? Jason

| I have recently bought a new OxyCheq wing an a DUI dry suit from the states, I was stung for £28 tax for the wing and £13 handling fee by parcelfarse. I was hit for the suit as well but rather less than I was expecting as they put the value less than it should have been, very nice people Good job it didn't go missing though. |

| not very long ago i was considering buying a d.u.i suit from the usa the shop owner was even willing to write a ticket out for a qauter of the price ! but i would have lost the lot if i had of been caught i think its owt over 18 quid u get taxed on u even get taxed if its a gift which i cant understand although u do get it imported cheaper if u know the products tax import code !!!

It is a pot luck what you pay, I used to import a lot of scuba gear and could place two orders for exactly the same things and pay two totally different rates. |

i tell ya what ivon i was so supprised (NOT) that the european court blocked the tax free(local tax paid) import of cheap fags and booze into the uk !! i wonder how many phone calls mr brown sent to his euro counterparts?

| Wether you agree with the European verdict depends on if you smoke or drink .If they had given the green light for the dutyfree then consider how much extra tax we would all have to pay to make up the short fall in Browns figures .Even the people who do not smoke or drink would have to pay more !

| Dont use Fedex or UPS. Insist on using US snail mail- it takes longer but less chance of being hit. I`ve done this loads of times and never been hit - get it marked as a gift. Every time I used Fedex or UPS they demand ALL payments before even delivery !!
