Question Suunto Transmitter Battery

Has anyone had experience of changing one of these themselves (the one in the pressure transmitterr bit), or sending them off to be changed (as my LDS seems to think is necessary)?? I mean is it difficult? (apart from getting the kit in the first place)?

Cheers Paul

The kit is not that difficult to get and if you want to chance changing just the battery it is a Saft LS14250 the kit also has a new oring in it

dead easy if an idiot like me can do it, anyone else can as well.

all you have to do is unscrew the 4 cross head screws on the transmitter and it pops open (you have to pull if apart with a little firm force). you pull out the outer casing and you will see the battery. replacing it is like putting batteries in any standard electrical equipment.

the case has grooves along the sides so you can mess up the alignment of it when you put it back together again. just remember that rule of unscrewing, a bit on one screw then loosen the other opposite it abit, and continue in that fashion. same when tightening.

you can get cheaper replacement batteries, I got mine from small battery company or something like that for under 5GBP delievered (3.50GBP?).

Its a standard sized O ring (i.e not funny dimension), if not, when I changed mine, i didnt have a spare so inspected, cleaned and lightly re-greased it. no problems at all. but if had one spare would have changed it since O rings cost like what 10p if you buy in bulk.

oh yeah forgot just do a google on suunto transmitter battery and you will get the part number its 3v CR14250 i think with a specific size 1/2AA ?
