| My Vypoer comes of quite easily, with only a broken nail to show for it, but my temptation qould be to take my vytec to my LDS and let them break their nails.. I suspect it means from the bottom end of the Vytec, although the only reason you need to get the boot off is so that you can get the short strap off. If you can do it without, then i would go for it.

| Paul, if you are using the standard strap that came with the vytec then I dont think you need to remove the computer unit from it at all.. underneath there is - what appears to be an oil filled cap. that is the entry point for the battery. get a pair of large (or needlenose) pliers - open them up and use then to help you rotate the locking cap anti clock wise to unlock it. the oring sits underneath the cap. the battery should now be accessible. put in new battery. put in new oring - or reuse the old one if necessary press down the cap - careful you don't knick the oring - and lock it by turning clockwise..

| I replaced the battery on mine a month or two ago. I think I know what you mean. The easiest way I found was to peel the rubber protectors that cover the buttons back and push from beneath. I had to take one half of the strap off I think, but if you get a pointy thing like a pen or better still the point of a penknife removing the strap was quite easy. Janos
