| I used to use Uwatec/Scubapro until I sent my Aladdin Air in for a repair (contact loose) they tried to fob me off by saying it's beyond economical repair and that I should upgrade it to one of the new computers for £350. In the end I sent it somewhere else and the guy repaired the contact for £35. Since then I refuse to buy anything Scubapro/Uwatec. The Uwatec series is fine in terms of performance and now the wet contacts have gone (PITA) they're easier to use but most of my friends use Suunto Vytecs and from what I've seen they are great computers. |

| I had two Aladins, the most recent being an Air Z Nitrox. I loved it and considered it to be one of the most useful bits of kit I'd ever bought, but I had to replace it because I needed a computer capable of gas switching. I then moved onto a Vytec and have to say it is a much better bit of kit - if for no other reason than because it has proper buttons instead of those wet contacts! It is also far more versatile in terms of it's settings - generally more user-friendly all round. The one big drawback? Suunto's minutes seem to be a lot longer than Uwatec's! A good bit of the deco time I've been able to save by switching gases does seem to have been taken up by longer stop times.

| Having had a uwatec aladin prime I did like the computer, loved the display, liked the infra red connection however hated the long press / short press buttons, done my head in. Did like the count time timer for safety / deco stops because it showed seconds so defiantly felt less time than using a suunto. However switched to Suunto in April 2006, I wouldnt go back, much easier to operate and navigate through menus. Just wish the Suunto's showed seconds on stops :-) Davie.
