Question VR3 and air breaks?

OK here one

i own a few VR3's for my diving however I'm looking to run 100% at the last stop and to the surface so the question is

does the VR3 allow you to do air breaks or by going back onto back gas does it get the hump and increase the deco?

i shall be trying this out on Monday but i thought i would ask first, in the planner mode it takes the final stop on O2 for the full 36 minutes?

there is a way to force the breaks by just switching the gas on the stop to the back gas and then back after the 6 minutes but i think that this will piss it off so that it lengths the deco because of it. Has anyone tried this?

just run a profile through V planner and that adds the breaks into the deco so on that basis it would be better to stick to the 80%

Off topic slightly, did you use a VR3 for the dive in your current blog title? Couldn't have been very deep

Graham, Well it's not the easiest thing to do, a tad fiddly.

Are you still on OC? (Luddite).

The VR3 should allow you to set up a number of gas profiles which are switchable under water.

Assuming you are carrying back gas & 1 or 2 deco mixes, set up a gas profile with your 2 or 3 gases but switch air off. Call this profile A

Set up profile B with just air.

Switch between A & B as you wish. The VR will assume you are going to deco out on air and adjust your deco time accordingly. However, it will readjust it when you switch back to profile A and 100%.

It's a bit of a pain, but what else are you going to have to do on your stops

Incidentally the new version software which runs my rebreather monitor has some great features in advanced mode for CCR.

It allows you to set a bail out profile and switch to it with 3 button presses. A couple of these are presses of both button to stop you doing it by accident.

I reckon these are some great new features.

Alan

PS, cant believe I'm saying this but I agree with Gary. Use 80%

If I remember correctly, your VR3 will plan in and insist you use air breaks..try a simulated dive.
