What do you think?

Ive been looking out for a VR3 on ebay the last while in the hope i could pick one up on the cheap
Two that Ive bid on have come back with a second chance offer with the exact same instructions
I dont contact them except thru this email adress cos theyll be away on business so cant access their email and that they will pay all shipping and handling charges as well
It was the last bit that had me worried cos it would be about 20 pounds to deliver it to Ireland
I kinda have my mind made up already but was wondering what the rest of you thought
Ta
Dave

Don't touch it Dave. It's a regular scam on ebay. They pick the second highest bidder & try the scoffer (scam-offer). I buy & sell a lot over ebay & get this all the time. Trust me.

Like Susan said.....

They contact you, pretending to be the original seller, giving you a jackanory about the winning bidder not paying, or having a second item to sell.

Due to them being "away on business", don't try to contact them through ebay, but only through the supplied email address. Now you're bypassing the (at best lightweight) ebay protection

Generally, coz they're "away on business" Paypal doesn't work so Western Union is the preferred payment method. You send the money, nothing ever arrives, and you have no comeback.

They usually do it on higher priced items; computers, rebreathers, digital cameras. They'll sometimes even offer to go through an escrow site, which is also bogus and has been set up by them.

Ebay is becoming more and more unreliable as the years go by, and it's not helped by their own security department.

Generally, stick to low cost items from high feedback sellers, and only pay by Paypal. At least you get some protection, although you will have to jump through the hoops to claim.

I'd second that. I bought something that turned out to be fake. Ebay didn't want to know even when I proved it was fake and that their other items used the same advert as they used to dupe me AND several other complaints. In the end I went through paypal and had to get a written statement from the people that normally manufacture the item to state it was a fake before they refunded my payment.

If in doubt.................RUN

You seem to know it is not right so don't risk it - VR3s are not indestructible piece s of kit that last for ever, buying one that has been treated badly would be a risk.

Yep,

What Mick said, we even get "scoffed" as a Powerseller ffs.

If it looks to be too good etc etc etc.

Dont deal off ebay, sure fire scam.
