Took that Vyper in for it's first swim with "zee leetle feeshes" today. Maggie Thatcher is less conservative than this thing. I decided, probably daft I know, to throw it in at the deep end.  So I pootled down to the wreck in Furnace and got a helluve shock at the deco it hit hit me with-
45.1 mtrs@5mins
Into deco@8mins
Left wreck@13mins
Found a distressed crab@37mtrs that Budgy decided to save there and then@13-16mins. Lifted said crab to more "sensible" depth to interfere with him there.
30mtrs@19min/1min stop
20mtrs@23min/1min stop
14mtrs@26min/1min stop
9mtrs@29min
6mtrs@33min

Never got out the fecking water until 61min. 28min deco for a quick bounce down to 45 seems a bit much really. At one point I thought about bending the thing, but decided against it as it wouldn't get us off on a good working relationship.
Another thing I noticed, and perhaps someone can tell me if it should do this, it doesn't give me a 1min warning(beeep) before it goes into deco. It's kinda handy to waken you up a bit when it does!

I've just taken a look at the ScotSac tables and fudged them into a multilevel profile -- I get 15 mins deco for that dive.  Sticking it into Jplan gives me the same sort of numbers.  Add in the 3@6 safety stop that the Vyper gives you just for getting in the water, and you're only 8 minutes out.    If you got any ascent rate warnings, or it was set to be conservative, I'd guess that's where they went.

What sort of stops would you normally do?

Peter,

You got to watch the thing, if you drop below stop depth it stops counting. This is particually true of the 6M stop, you really need to be between 5.9 and 6.1M

My Aladin pro would've only given me 10 mins or so at 3 for this same dive. I've done it plenty times before. We went for a dawdle during the deco which I was at 4-6 during and the last 13 mins were spent at 3-4 hanging off the pier leg. It is set on the first level of conservatism though, but I never thought it would give me that much.

I got a VR3 earlier in the year and i had exactly the same problems.

First dive with Aladin Pro on Air to 30M gave me a 3 min stop

The VR3 gave me all the Pyle stops and about 10 minutes at 6M.

20 dives later i quite like the safety factor, but it was a bit of a shock at first.

Diving on a single mix does seem to give you very long decos. But I am looking forward to getting it in the water next year with twins and a stage.

Less long hangs at 6M

I ran the times on my Vytec and 17mins at 40m gave 14mins of deco so there is somthing wrong. Have you got the altitude or safety settings set above 0? Alternativly you were not at the recommended off gassing depths for the long hang section. With a 7min ascent from 40 it gave me 10 at 6m

I ran 17mins at 40 on Decoplanner 20 /85 and it gave 14mins of deco too. With a 7min ascent from 40 it gave me 10 at 6m

Seeing as I found most of my Vitec profiles ran to about that level I would say the safety settings are set or the dive was longer deeper than you thaught.

Stick the print out on the net and I will do a step analisis on Decoplaner

Peter

I find mine gives far less than Aladins

What i have found though is that SUUNTO's get a bit carried away on Air, is that what you were on? If so try some Nitrox with her.
